UPM cultural programming 2010-11

Concerts and workshops will compose the cultural programming of the UPM in 2010-11. It´ll start on October 23rd, through the opening concert of this academic year at the National Auditorium.

"The Creation" by Joseph Haydn will open next October 23rd the UPM cultural programming of the academic year 2010-2011. The Academic Orchestra of Madrid will perform the opening concert, which will be held at the National Music Auditorium (ANM), conducted by Iñigo Pírfano. Host choir from the Technical University of Madrid, as well as invited choirs from Complutense and Autónoma de Madrid and the choir Semicircle of ETS Industrial Engineering will perform.

In addition, this year several piano concerts will be held, performing pianist Yuja Wang, among others. Also, the Classical Orchestra of Spain will perform the Christmas concert between a total of seven, framed in XX Concert Series National Music Auditorium. The XXI Cycle of Music of the UPM will feature three musical performances in the colleges of the Technical University of Madrid: "The Gospel Times", "The Ritirata" and "Sax Antitua", which will take place in the colleges of the Technical University of Madrid: ETS Telecommunications Engineering, EU Public Works Engineering and ETS Naval Engineering, respectively.

UPM Cultural Programming will also offer workshops in flamenco, zarzuela and opera. The works "Archangel" and "Deaf" by Vicente Soto, will be featured at Flamenco festival, which will be held on May 5th and 12th at ETS Industrial Engineering and ETS Agronomics Engineering of the UPM. The Zarzuela days will feature musical performances as "La del Soto del Parral", with Ruben Gimeno in musical direction and "Luisa Fernanda", with music by Federico Moreno and Christopher Soler in charge of musical direction.

The work "Eugene Onegin" by Pyotr Tchaikovsky Ilick, which is part of the workshop in opera, will closure the cultural programming of this academic year at Teatro Real.

Prior to and within this cycle, works as "Tamerlano" by GF Handel, "Jenufa" by Leos Janáek and "La Boheme" by Giacomo Puccini will be offered.
