Letter from the Director

I am pleased to welcome all of you that, through this our Web, are willing to receive information about our School and, particularly about the features of the education and training than at present are attending to our future Naval and Oceanic Engineers, and the special features than, starting from 2010 will attend, also in our lecture rooms, the future Naval Architects, Maritime Engineers and Oceanic Engineers.

Jesús Panadero PastranaAmong the Engineering degrees that, in Spain and in the world, give the technical skills to the many different activities performed in the industrial area, the Naval and Oceanic Engineering, either in its actual version as in its soon adaptation to the common European Area for the Higher Education, presents very definite and clear characteristics, as the studies, projects and researches concern vessels and marine devices, in their different phases of their life cycles. The apparently monographic feature of these studies, and thus of this profession, turns plural and diverse taking into account that a vessel, and several marine devices, can be stated as the synthesis of the highest standards in materials, equipment and systems that are produced by industries of diverse areas in the moment that the construction of vessels and marine devices are being performed.
Other distinctive sign of the Naval and Oceanic Engineering is the strong tradition settlements that can be observed in their basis and norms, which have given a singular unique character and thus, have kept and used, since long, a very accurate and specific terminology that has fed and enriched the languages spoken in several countries in the world.
Both main features of this profession, multidisciplinarity and modernity on the one hand, and tradition and history on the other, are present in the Naval Engineering Higher Technical School and are noticed and felt for anyone visiting, from the very moment they cross the main door.
With the aim that all persons from outside our School can end knowing it, although from the distance, and also than all the School members can be updated in all concerning news or events, this new Web has been implemented, having special care for the access and cruising to be easy and systematic, as well as linked useful sites concerning both University environment as business and institutional sites.
I expect that all contents of this Web site will be of use and I would like to thank your interest for our School and our profession that you are having by accessing and navigating in our site.
