HTC selects the Facultad de Informática for an international contest: ‘The Tomorrow Talks’

The Facultad de Informática at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid has been selected, along with other four Spanish universities, to participate in the international contest ‘The Tomorrow Talks’. Students are invited to participate in the development of the smartphone of tomorrow.

The contest is an initiative of HTC, the Taiwanese company that makes smartphones for the Windows Mobile and Windows Phone 7 from Microsoft and Android (Google).

As part of the agreement with HTC, students at the Facultad are invited to participate in the contest. It is intended for students of 15 European universities selected by HTC, who have to submit ideas of how will be the smartphone of tomorrow.

There are five Spanish universities amongst the 15 European universities: the department for Management at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, the department for Management, University of Barcelona, the Facultad de Informática of the Basque Country University, Facultad de informática of Valencia University and Facultad de Informática of the UPM.


Registration and ideas

The registration is open until 30th April and the deadline to submit proposals will end on 7th May. During a 5 day workshop the winning team will develop their idea into a feasible concept with professionals from the mobile industries.

Two students at the Faculty, Virginia Grande and Héctor Ambit, will be the HTC Campus Ambassadors to promote events related to HTC at the Faculty.

The Professors Xavier Ferré, Ricardo Imbert and Loïc Martínez Normand are part of the “HTC Tomorrow” initiative. They test new devices developed by HTC before their release.

Students can participate on their own or in a team of up to 5 fellow students. The project consists on recording a video up to 3 minutes which shows how the user experience will be by using the Smartphone of tomorrow.
