The Instituto de Energía Solar of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (IES-UPM) was founded in 1979 and over the last three and a half decades has been a catalyst positioning Spain at the forefront of PV technology.
Both basic research on solar cells and applied research on photovoltaic systems, are the main activities carried out at IES-UPM.
